Registrar

Dr. P. Lakshmanaperumalsamy has been designated as the Registrar of Karpagam University. A Doctrate from the Annamalai University, he comes to Karpagam with immense experience, having served as Former Director, School of Life Sciences and Professor and Head, Department of Environmental Sciences, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.

Having started his career as a Lecturer in Microbiology in the School of Marine Sciences, Cochin University, Cochin, Dr. P. Lakshmanaperumalsamy has come a long way. With Specialization is Environmental Microbiology and Environmental Biotechnology, he has 35 years of Research experience behind him. Over the years, he has published 142 papers in National and International Journals and presented 220 paper in National and International Conferences. He also has a patent to his credit.

An inspiring mentor and guide, about 29 students have received Ph.D and 24 students have undergone M.Phil under Dr. P. Lakshmanaperumalsamy's guidance. Fourteen of his papers have won Best Paper Awards, in various National and International Conferences. Further funding agencies like UGC, DRDE, ICAR, DST, DNE, DRDO and TNSCST have sanctioned many projects.

Dr. P. Lakshmanaperumalsamy has served as a member of Syndicate, Senate, Academic Council (SCAA), Chairman, Board of Studies in Microbiology, Bharathiar University, BOS in Environmental Science of Bharathiar and Thiruvalluvar University, Member Board of Studies in Environmental Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Marine Science of various Universities and Autonomous Institutions. He was the Coordinator of DST - FIST Programme, UGC-CSIR NET / SLET Examinations.

An avid environment enthusiast and a member in the Coimbatore District Environment Committee, Dr. P. Lakshmanaperumalsamy has been responsible for planting nearly 2.0 lakh trees, rainwater harvesting structures in Bharathiar University Campus and creating Environmental Awareness among the students. The Tamilnadu Scientist Award (TANSA-2007) for Environment and Life Time Achievement Award for Applied Microbiology - 2008 were conferred on him. His leadership will prove to be an invaluable asset to Karpagam University.
