The Department of Automobile Engineering was established in the year 2009. The department offers 4 years BE- Automobile Engineering course. (Lateral Entry mode of admissions during second year of the program is applicable for Diploma holders). The department is dedicated to maintain a high standard of excellence through value based education, technology and innovation. The Department’s faculty members combine their commitment to research with a devotion to hard work, competent and teaching. We have organized Guest Lectures, workshops, seminars and symposiums for our students and also we arrange In-plant training and Industrial visit to the students to get adequate exposure in tackling live problems encountered in the working of an industrial entity. We encourage our students to participate in various activities like technical paper presentation, project contest, quizzes etc.

We pride ourselves on being a student-oriented department that provides a high level of service to our students, through close interaction with our committed faculty and staff.

The ultimate vision of the Department is to have a close interaction with a number of industries to develop a Consultancy Cell and Sponsored projects by maintaining a high standard of excellence through value based education, technology and innovation.

The Department’s faculty members combine their commitment to research with a devotion to hard work, competent and teaching. Our curriculum has been devised to develop engineers with strong analytical, modeling, experimental, design ability, team working skills and encouraging the spirit of the true entrepreneur.

Facilities

The Department is having well-equipped laboratories incorporating the latest technologies. Students show a lot of interest towards learning the experiments. To provide them with virtual knowledge, we conduct regular video sessions related to the syllabus, emerging technologies, manufacturing plants of automobile majors, etc.

Future Development

The ultimate aim of the department is to have close interaction with a number of industries to develop a Consultancy cell and Sponsored projects. The department plans to start ME Program in the years to come. Besides the development of students’ technical expertise, we help enhance their soft skills to make them industry ready and get them placed in renowned automobile companies.

In Plant Training

• Around 25 students have attended Automobile Training during III semester vacation (Nov - Dec 2009). Place: Ambal Industrial Training Institute, Coimbatore. Duration - 15 days.
• 15 students have attended Automobile Training during III semester vacation (Nov - Dec 2009). Place: Suryabala Industrial Training Institute, Coimbatore. Duration - 15 days.

In Plant Training (IGNOU)

20 students have joined One year Certificate Program in Motorcycle Service and Repair. (IGNOU - Hero Honda Motorcycle), May - June' 2010, 15 Days, 5 Days - Theory and 10 Days - Practicals @ Hero Honda Dealer
