The Department of Industrial Biotechnology aims to develop the skills of the students in the field of Industrial Biotechnology by equipping them with the fundamental and practical knowledge to compete successfully with others globally. The course is designed on par with reputed institutions nationwide & overseas and includes basic as well as applied subjects. The Department was established in the year 2002.

Academics

The course focuses on the Bio Instrumentation, Bio chemistry, Bio-statistics and research methodology. The Department offers 2 year PG degree in Industrial Biotechnology. Emphasis is laid on the latest advancements in the field.

Research Focus

The research in the Department is mainly focused on antioxidant and biological activities of ethno medicinal plants, underexploited fruits and food plants, and their constituents. The research work emphasizes the effect of natural antioxidants against oxidative stress for the prevention and treatment of various degenerative diseases since, plants as antioxidants are important to the human diet, and contain not only the nutritional antioxidants but also a great quantity of non-nutritional antioxidants, such as flavonoids and phenol compounds.
